This page is designed to go some way towards showing you what
happens during a stop
smoking hypnotherapy session. It answers
many of the most
commonly asked questions about the session, but if
you do have any other questions, please do
contact us.
First and foremost, our
stop smoking hypnotherapy takes place as
a single session, which lasts around 50 minutes to an hour.
After taking some brief details, the first part of the session is
where we can talk a little bit about
smoking and how it fits in with
your life. We'll also spend some time talking about other ways
you've tried to
stop smoking and how they worked (or not!) for you.
Then, during the second part of the session, you'll just sit
back, relax and listen to the
hypnotherapist as he guides you gently
into relaxing hypnosis.
The hypnotherapy session is done on a one-to-one basis, although
if you would like to bring someone along to enjoy the session and
stop smoking as well, just let us know in advance, and you'll
both get a discount too!
Please contact us
for more details
If you just want to bring a friend along to accompany you, that's
no problem either, as they can wait for you in the waiting room.
We're often asked "Is there anything I need to do to get ready
for the session, or bring with me?". And the short answer is
"not really". If you want, you can always tell people
you're coming, so that they can support you. It's a good idea
to get rid of any
cigarettes, ash trays and so forth that you may have, but other than
that, just look forward to it!
What does
hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis is a perfectly normal, relaxed feeling that we
all experience from time-to-time. It feels a little bit like
those moments when you've had a nice meal and your eyes come over
all 'heavy', and you feel as though you could just drop off to
sleep.
One of the things that many people find surprising, is that they
are wide-awake for the whole session.
Hypnosis isn't really
anything like sleep at all for most people.
Sometimes it does happen (especially if the person is
particularly tired), that the person will fall asleep, but they still
subconsciously hear what's going on, so it can still work for
them.
For the most part, hypnosis is much more like relaxation than
sleep, which means, and again this surprises some people, that
you'll probably remember most, if not all, of the session (although
it may seem shorter than it actually was).
It follows then, that it's really nothing at all like you see on
stage or on TV - again, a common misconception.
After opening their eyes at the end of the session, many people
say
they wish they could stay there all day! If someone does
feel a bit 'bleary-eyed' as they leave, we usually recommend that
they don't drive for 5 minutes or so.
We know there are hundreds of
hypnotherapists out there
offering hypnotherapy to stop smoking, and we want to make sure you
can make an informed choice. For more information, please take
